In this fantasy/romance novel, the author balanced the scenes of intimacy with intelligence, humor and genuine affection. She also did not flinch from presenting scenes of malice or violence and tempered them with reason and conviction. My husband read the book before I did, and he said that it was fast-paced, exciting and believable. High praise from him, because he does not generally read fiction, preferring non-fiction. We both enjoyed Jennifer Arnold's first book in the Light Bender series and look forward to the second book, WARRIOR-IN-WAITING!

I couldn’t put this book down! The characters Jennifer Arnold creates are believable and lovable. I really enjoyed that the main character was a more mature woman and Arnold captures beautifully a mature love as well as a new love in this one character. A delightful read that created a world of love and loyalty and good winning over evil. The ending had some twists I didn’t expect as well.
I loved this story! It was beautifully written with characters who were flawed yet likable. A lovely fairy tale that was well written and fun to read.
Romance, action and adventure ! This book is great for those who like to travel to the past and imagine life full of love, family and adventure. Easy to follow and will take you on a journey that will keep you guessing.
This was one of those books you just didn't want to put down until you were done with it. I hope Volume II comes out soon as I'm anxious to read what will happen next!
If you enjoy mystery, magic, intrigue, romance, you will definitely enjoy this book! I couldn't put it down and absolutely loved the twists, turns, and the ending. I was also thrilled the protagonist wasn't a teen or young adult, but a more mature woman facing challenges that I also face as a wife, mom, and a person with flaws and weaknesses! Like hers. The characters evolve and grow, and it's fun getting caught up in their lives. Can't wait for the next book!!
